First, Let Me Explain

Hello!

This semester I'm putting together an oral performance - an oral interpretation of literature and other works, to be exact. I'm working with an instructor to gather materials that suit a common theme. After much thought, I feel that the theme of this collection at this point is "reflection" or "taking time to look back at one's life." This may change as I gather pieces for the performance, but for now, reflection is my focus for many reasons.

My Inspiration:
**personal reflections prompted from watching another person's life transform --- My sister just started college, and I have been fascinated with the changes that I can see in her from day to day. Watching her has forced me to take a look at my own journey into adulthood. During this reflection, I found that I have changed and been formed by my experiences in a way that I didn't even know.
**the great inspiration and merit one can find in taking time to look at life changes --- By looking at my own journey through life, I realized that I have, in fact, changed much more than I realized. This change has been incredibly inspiring and encouraging my day to day life. I can see my efforts on even menial tasks working towards a life purpose - something which I had not previously realized.
**the realization that the average person spends far too little time reflecting --- During my own reflection, I found it hard to focus on the past, and I see this struggle in others as well. The lives we lead in this world are busy and chaotic most of the time leaving us little time to prepare for what is to come, let alone spend time looking at events and experiences that have already happened.

After watching my performance, I want my audience to be inspired to spend time taking a look at their own lives. For the most part, we humans change more statically than dynamically which can make our life changes barely noticeable to us unless we designate time to reflect and look back at them. This performance will attempt to provoke a thoughtful, nostalgic feeling in my audience that will move them to reflect on their own lives and experiences.

Sound interesting? Come with me on this journey, and feel free to offer your own input!
